São Paulo is one of the 27 federative units of Brazil. It is located in the south of the Southeastern region and has as limits the states Minas Gerais (N and NE), Rio De Janeiro (NE), Atlantic Ocean (l), Paraná (s) and Mato Grosso of the South (o). It is divided in 645 cities and it occupies an area of 248.808, 8 kilometers squared, being little bigger that the United kingdom. Its capital is the city of São Paulo and its current governor is Jose Serra. With more than forty million inhabitants, São Paulo is the state most populous of Brazil and the third more populous administrative unit of the South America, being surpassed only for the proper country and slightly for Colombia, to the front of Argentina and of all the other South American countries. Considered the “economic engine” of the most important Brazil and of the states, São Paulo is responsible for more than 31% of the GIP of the country. It is the richest state and figure enters the states with high Index of Human Development, being surpassed only for Santa Catarina and the Federal District. Its population is diversified of Brazil and descends mainly of Italian and Portuguese immigrants, even so has also strong influence of amerindians and Africans and other great Arab, German, Spanish and Japanese chains migratory, as
